THE SHOW OF ARRESTS AND THE EMPTY PROMISES. The agriculture secretary crowed about 895 arrests for illegal food stamp usage. His declaration that “corruption is absolutely astounding” was not some shocking revelation. It was merely noise designed to sound official and self-important.

This routine spectacle of pointing fingers at aid recipients is nothing more than predictable political theater. It is a flimsy diversion from the actual mechanical failures of the system. The very existence of these arrests only highlights the weakness and constant struggle of the underlying safety net.

The message being sent is crystal clear. The safety net is unraveling. The rhetoric is engineered to make the desperate feel like criminals betraying a system that is already failing them. This constant moralizing only serves to justify deeper cuts and complete neglect.

The current narrative rests on tired assumptions. It assumes the problem lies with the poor instead of the policy makers. This is a worn-out script used to keep the public focused on internal strife while the larger rot continues unchecked. The decay is not about bad actors. It is a direct function of policy neglect and manufactured crisis.
