NORTHROP GRUMMAN IS LAYING OFF WORKERS IN BALTIMORE. THE SO-CALLED AIR OF TECHNICAL ADJUSTMENT IS A THIN VEIL. OFFICIAL STATEMENTS CLING TO THE JARGON OF “PROGRAM CHANGES” AND “RESTRUCTURING.” YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THIS IS about the machinery. It is about the bottom line.

These are not minor trims meant to optimize resources. These are severe cuts to manpower. The corporation is slashing overhead wherever it finds the easiest way to bleed cash. It always comes down to eliminating people.

The company cites shifting program requirements as the reason for the job losses. This is the predictable script. It suggests that the actual work has changed and therefore the workers must vanish. The reality is that the market dictates these brutal cutbacks. The workers are forced to absorb the full shock.

The supposed ‘program changes’ are just corporate smoke for “we are making money somewhere else.” The workforce in Baltimore is disposable. Their skills are treated as fungible inputs to be eliminated when the next cost-cutting wave hits.

Never trust the language of efficiency. It is merely the polite word for panic. It means the profit margin dipped or a competitor built something cheaper. The human element is always the first thing to be liquidated.
