Depth of reporting is replaced by the speed of the headline.

Nuance is a threat to ad revenue.

The institutional voice is merely a content filter.

Outrage sells and it always sold.

The difference is that now they outsource the outrage and package it.

They deliver it directly to the bottom of your feed.

The function of the journalist has shrunk. They are now professional outrage aggregators.

They are paid to point and magnify the disagreement.

The public trust was never the product. The eyeballs were always the prize.

The algorithm knows this.

We are not witnessing decline. We are witnessing efficient industrialization.

The industry has optimized for the lowest common denominator.

The highest bidder wins.

Nothing will change. The feed will continue to scroll into the void.
